The Academic Skills for Adult ESOL Learners course is designed to prepare
adult students for further education by providing concentrated instruction in
ESOL Academic Skills competencies.
Students are required to identify, organize, and use resources appropriately;
to work with each other cooperatively and productively; to acquire and use
information; to understand social, organizational, and technological systems;
and to work with a variety of tools and equipment. Students also work to improve
personal qualities and higher order thinking skills.
After successfully completing this course, the student will be able to
demonstrate English skills necessary to listen, speak, read and write
effectively. The students will also be able to apply rules of standard English
grammar, obtain higher education and training, and demonstrate the ability to
use computer technology.
